Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

Environmental problems are the harmful influence of human activity on the environment. Air, water, land and nuclear pollution badly damage nature. For instance, there’re such planet-wide problems as massive deforestation, ozone holes, acid rains and global warming. The reasons for such environmental problems are numerous: harmful gases form cars, factory waste, millions of cut down trees, destroyed habitats of animals and birds, polluted rivers and seas. All these issues gradually destroy our planet.

People are becoming more and more aware that our planet in under threat. Fortunately, it’s not too late to solve these problems. It is not possible to stop the technological process. People need to invent new waste free technologies that will not do harm to nature. The Earth is our home and we should save it for future generations.
