Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

Building a house is a complex process, involving many stages and skilled professionals. It typically starts with securing land and obtaining necessary planning permissions – a process that can take several months, even a year. Then comes the foundation, usually poured concrete, around 15cm thick, ensuring a stable base for the structure. Next, the walls are erected, often using prefabricated panels or bricks, creating the shell of the building. This is followed by the roofing stage, where strong beams and waterproof materials are crucial. Plumbing and electrical work are integrated during construction, with around 200 meters of cabling often required for a standard-sized house. Finally, the interior finishes are added, including plastering, painting, and fitting kitchen units. The entire process, from initial planning to completion, might take anywhere from 12 to 18 months, depending on the size and complexity of the project. A team of at least 5-7 skilled workers will likely be involved throughout the entire build.
